CINCINNATI)- Building Value, Powered by Easterseals Redwood, congratulates Charles “Chuck” Craig on receiving a car from our partner, Wheels. This milestone moment is an important step forward on Chuck’s journey to employment. When Chuck came to Building Value’s job training program, he quickly became known for his strong work ethic and positive, upbeat outlook on life.

Chuck completed the 12 weeks of BV’s “work hardening” program and coursework, and was paired with Valley Construction for a job. Even when faced with personal challenges, Chuck remained committed and was able to take and pass his driver’s test. It was a memorable day for everyone at the store when Chuck came in and announced with pride that he had passed.

Chuck said himself in this interview, that this car represents the first car he has ever had in his life. He is excited to be able to drive to church on Sundays and go places with his young son, activities which were out of reach in the past. Having reliable transportation is a vital part of breaking barriers to employment, and we are grateful for our partnership with Wheels, which helps equip our participants with donated cars.

Chuck now has the security of a reliable vehicle for his pre-apprenticeship with Valley Construction this fall. He also continues to work with his mentor on creating a long-term plan for housing and the care of his son. Building Value is so proud of all that Chuck has done to propel himself forward.
