Easterseals Redwood Signing Day!
May 15, 2024
We celebrated In-Demand Jobs Week and the inaugural National Youth Apprenticeship Week with its first-ever Signing Day Event on Friday, May 10th!
Similar to how student-athletes announce their next adventure, graduates from our construction programs signed to secure apprenticeships with local companies during the event to mark and announce their new chapter. Partnering with Supply Chain OKI, we also hosted a career and apprenticeship fair following the signing event with more than 20 employers offering in-demand, entry-level apprenticeship positions.
Hamilton County Commissioner, Alicia Reece, issued a proclamation of National Apprenticeship Week before the graduates officially signed with employers, including Archiable Electric Company, Denier, Elite Welding, Journey Soaring Steel, Messer Construction, Nelson Stark, PCI, Peck Hannaford + Briggs and Valley Interiors.
“Part of our mission at Easterseals Redwood is to help provide resources so people can reach their highest potential. Our apprenticeship and career training programs provide a strong foundation for on-the-job experience, certifications, and professional connections,” said Pam Green, President and CEO of Easterseals Redwood. “Construction happens to be one of the most in-demand careers in Ohio. We wanted to find a fun and unique way to recognize and celebrate our graduates by hosting the signing event, and the fair also furthers our mission by providing crucial connections between employers and individuals who are eager to learn, work and make a difference in the community.”
Sixteen people signed onto apprenticeships during the event for positions in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, iron work and more.
